Women’s History Month

Women’s History Month

As I’m getting into blogging and trying to figure out what I want to be when I grown up, I find myself going back to what I am passionate about. My passions include inclusion, women’s rights, spreading kindness, and being an Ally and Safe Space.

That’s when I looked up Women’s history month and found out that it starts March 1st! I’m writing this on February 28, 2024 and it’s leap year, so I have an extra day to post this.

Women’s History Month had its origins as a national celebration in 1981, and since 1995, presidents have issued a series of annual proclamations designating the month of March as “Women’s History Month.”

Is it crazy to think this this wasn’t a thing until the 1980’s? I graduated from High School in 1995 (do the math, I’m mid-40’s) and I wish that we had focused on more women-centric history in school.

It’s a presidential election year and I feel like every time we make strides in women’s rights, something comes along and moves us backwards. There are so many hot topics out for debate –
The US takes one step forward and two-steps back (sorry for the ear worm) and we’re back in the 1970’s.

Girl Power

This month (and everyday) we honor women that have made history. These ordinary ladies have torn down barriers, and lead change for our gender. We’ll focus on some of these leaders later this month, but this post, let’s celebrate GIRL POWER!

I have a couple of free files on my website for you this month – I’ve been updating my site and am messing around with downloads that I can offer to the Lefties (newsletter subscribers). The files pictured below are for sale on Etsy, but for you, they are FREE for the month of March (2024)! That’s over $10 in FREE Cut Files.

Click on the files below to add these to your cart – you’ll still need to check out, but the designs are FREE for the month of March.

Lefties, let’s make every month Women’s History month!

On another note, it’s also “March into Literacy” month. If you’ve followed me, you know that I’m an avid reader and so there might be some reading surprises along the way.

Cheers!
