Custom Shirts for Girl Scout Activities
I had a Girl Scout leader reach out to me to make shirts for her troop’s upcoming camping event. Woohoo! I love coming up with custom designs. She wanted something that included their troop number on the design. Being a former girl scout, memories of girl scout activities came flooding back; earning badges, singing songs, camping with friends…
My Process
I went to work (using my trusty Adobe Illustrator). I came up with 2 different designs to start to make sure I was on the right track with what she envisioned. From there I sent the mockups to my customer, and she chose one of the designs I had come up with on the first try!

More Tees!
Then she asked for another design for her other troop! This time she asked for a pocket design on the front and a larger design on the back of the shirts.

Until now, I have never made a shirt with designs on both the front and back. I referred to the online course that I took to learn about using my screen press. The hardest part was finding the best place to line up the pocket design. I got it figured out and look!
After a few hours, I went back to line up the back design. I’m so happy with how they turned out.

The green shirts were mostly youth sizes, so I changed my platen and got it all set up. I was able to get 21 shirts out of 1 piece of vinyl!
I had one casualty - this shirt was wrinkled on the platen and I didn’t notice until I had squeegeed the ink onto it.

Final Products
My customer was happy with the shirts (and so was I). I didn’t get any official photos of the finished shirts, but the troops shared some photos of their camping weekend.
